For years, I've thought about what to do for drivetrain upgrades; upgrade stock, 1/2 ton axles, etc. However, I really only want to do axle swaps once. A d60 14b combo can be had for under 1k, jk axles are 3500 each from mopar. '97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

The pinion yoke of the 44 will match your current DS, but your axle brackets wont.
